La gouvernance et le financement de l’enseignement supérieur: une approche microéconomique

Abstract:
This article focuses on the functioning of the higher education system by means of a microeconomic analysis. It offers a synthesis of the work that I have pursued during my PhD thesis on issues related to the financing and the governance of the institutions active in the sector. First, I study the links between the way public funding is distributed and the emergence of some types of institution. Then, a model highlighting the key role of the composition of the board of trustees is presented. The last part is concerned with the consequences of a deregulation of tuition fees. In conclusion, I present some aspects discussed in this thesis in order to shed light on recent issues faced by the higher education sector in the Federation Wallonia-Brussels.
