Revue Tiers-Monde, 2009, vol. n° 200, issue 4, 767-783
Abstract:
This text examines the processes involved in the social construction of the value of generosity in campaigns promoting the European Development Policy, during a recent period (2000-2005) and when the first such initiative, the Policy of Association, was implemented (1957-1963). The production conditions of public information campaigns and support material on the theme of development, their modalities of circulation, the institutions that produce them, the « Europe professionals » who invent them and their motivations, and the kinds of knowledge and practices in play, are all explored in order to identify the construction of meanings and attitudes that contribute to the structured field of knowledge, practices and professionals linked to the category of EU Development.
