Abstract: Catherine Paquette ? Periurban Households? Daily Mobility and Access to Urban Resources in Mexico City, An Analysis of the Relations between Poverty and Mobility In numerous metropolises, low-income peri-urban households meet with important difficulties for their daily mobility, because of their localization, of the lack of public transportation or because of the high cost of it. This tends to increase their exclusion. In Mexico City, in spite of the huge extension of the urban area, the links between poverty and mobility arise quite differently. The large public transport supply and its moderate cost allow the inhabitants of the suburbs to move around the city. Besides, the existence of local resources contributes to limit their mobility needs to realize daily activities. These findings are important for the reformulation of public policies with regard to public transportation.
