Abstract:
?Reflecting changes in the CFE-CGC for 15 years, the article examines the reasons for its leaders? repeated strategic hesitations to face its decline. This ?phoney crisis? reflects an increasing difficulty in structuring a homogeneous representation of a social group, the management group, which is inherently heterogeneous. Based on a survey articulating quantitative data on participants in the 2010 congress of the Confederation, observations in different structures and interviews with militants, the article examines how sociodemographic changes of management have contrasting effects on organizational structures and lead to conflicting perceptions of the changing context. The inability to overcome these internal cleavages can be explained by the maintenance of a focus on enterprise-based unions, bordering on an enterprise corporatism in union strongholds, which limits the role of confederal structures.?
