‪Au-delà de l'emploi, quelle sauvegarde du travail ?‪. Expériences du reclassement dans le cadre d'un PSE « idéal »

Lucie Goussard

Travail et Emploi, 2014, vol. n° 138, issue 2, 53-67

Abstract: ?This article examines how workers go through a corporate restructuring that has been presented to them as ideal. Based on seventy interviews conducted three years after the firm closure, it shows what corporate restructuring do to work as a subjective experience. Indeed, even if all the employees have been reclassified in a sustainable company located near their former workplace, the level of their remuneration and social benefits has been maintained, and even if their employment conditions have not fundamentally been altered, they feel their experience of work is being manhandled. Although keeping their employment, employees lose their sense of belonging to a work collective, commitment to their company, the feeling of being good at their jobs and their career prospects. When their relationship to work is thus degraded, their social identity and the meaning they give to their lives are also deeply affected.?
