Abstract:
?In the early 1970s, the management of the ? ?Société nationale industrielle aérospatiale? ? (SNIAS) decided to change its practices with trade unions. To do so, the management adopted certain practices seeking to marginalize the CGT and CFDT trade unions, in favour of the more reformist ones: CGT-FO, CGC and CFTC. The latter organizations were more favourable to the company?s contractual policies. To make this change in its collective bargaining and union relationships, SNIAS?s leaders used repression and/or discrimination to rapidly weaken the trade unions? protests. This article describes the strategies used by the management, both direct and indirect, to achieve a lasting peace with the factory?s unions.?
