Abstract:
?Artisanal fishers are subject to hard working conditions. Among these, we will use their unusual working times as an entry to approach the impact of these working conditions on the household. Not only do fishers consider their absence from home during long periods or their unusual schedules as painful, but their time at home bears the hallmark of their working conditions as they have to rest and recuperate. Thus the working times of fishers have a strong impact on their family life and demand some special family arrangements. We can distinguish two sorts of arrangements, depending on how the households deal with the husband?s occupation. In some households, the occupation comes first and the main purpose of the arrangements is to make it possible to continue without any change, while others try to deal with the problem upstream, the arrangements implying more or less important changes in how the husband practices his trade.?
