L’histoire et les historiens dans Travail et Emploi, ou les vertus des marges disciplinaires

Anne-Sophie Bruno

Travail et Emploi, 2019, vol. n° 158, issue 2, 133-153

Abstract: This article conducts a quantitative analysis of the articles published in Travail et Emploi since the journal has been founded, compares them to the articles published in historical journals, and takes into account their dissemination. Despite a still largely incomplete interdisciplinary dialogue and although history plays a marginal role in the publications of the journal, it shows that incorporating the historical dimension has enabled historians as non-historians researchers to open new paths in labour history. In particular, they have increased our knowledge of the history of classifications, forms of employment and labour institutions ? as many areas for which other social sciences, such as sociology, political science, economics and history of law have brought new ideas to historians, thus proving the virtues of an interdisciplinary approach for understanding employment and labour issues.
