Abstract:
Small and medium enterprises contribute significantly to achieve the fundamental objectives of any national economy. They play an important role in the economy for reasons such as: to encourage innovation and flexibility; to integrate easily into a regional industrial network, which contributes to the economic development of the region, to reduce unemployment and raise the living standards because it provides jobs, stimulates competition, helps the proper functioning of the large enterprises that provide different services or produce different subassemblies. Through this article I want to highlight the peculiarities of the business environment in Romania, we analyzed the development of small and medium enterprises in the period 2013-2014 and presented the problems facing SMEs and some solutions to revive this sector.
