Abstract:
Amid cultural-educational models, the European countries have developed in educational and learning systems a totally wrong vision and mission of the role they have as systems and institutions subordinated to the overall development of society. In most cases in European countries, defining the mission of education and its institutions mission was carried out from "inside" the system. The system has considered what is good for society or not, which should receive this society, or what he wants it. There are four vision models of the role of higher education institutions, on how they can fulfill their role and about the type of organizational management: university-faculty, university-school of thought, university-knowledge center, and university-study center. European vision and strategic direction lead to a type of university-knowledge platform that subscribe to main objective of the Lisbon Strategy of the European Union, which was considered the project Europe of knowledge. The intention of main universities in Romania is one of alignment with the principles of a Europe of knowledge by declaring a suitable academic mission but enforcement is difficult if not impossible in the current legislation and professional-type models inherited from the socialist mentality.
