Abstract: The development of rural space is not a new concept, it has been the focus of numerous specialists, theorists and practitioners since the beginning of modern history, in different forms and meanings. It is known that in most countries of the world special attention is paid to rural development, on the one hand due to its necessity, as well as the way in which it is carried out. In my opinion, the sustainable development of the rural area first of all requires knowing and solving rural problems, as they are the starting point of complex activities, of major importance for any country, the efficiency of which cannot be solved in the short term, as integrated programs are necessary successively, with lasting effects, to be completed by improving the rural infrastructure, the business environment in rural areas, the quality of people's lives and living conditions. The approach to the theme regarding rural development brings into discussion the main directions in order to outline the concrete conditions regarding the creation of an economic environment favorable to development, in the sense of stabilizing a sustainable and multifunctional development of the rural space. I believe that we are passing through a difficult period, the pandemic generated by the SARS-CoV-2 virus is a real global challenge, which proves to us that we live in an interconnected world and at the same time we must consider this period as an opportunity to strengthen solidarity and cooperation International. Sustainable savings are needed, and we must find solutions as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.
