Abstract: This paper analyzes the impact of the unemployment rate on economic and social factors in Romania from 1990 to 2024. The main objective of this study is to identify whether economic growth, economic stability, the labor market, education level and migration influence unemployment at the country level. To study the causal relationship between variables, econometric models were used that allow determining the relevance of factors for time series regression. Static and dynamic approaches and Granger causality were used. The empirical results suggest a statistically significant relationship between gross domestic product and the inflation rate, which shows that the lower the gross domestic product, the higher the inflation rate. The research findings show a positive relationship between inflation, average net salary and the unemployment rate and a negative relationship between gross domestic product, education, emigration and unemployment in Romania
