Abstract: Since the 1990s, international concerns regarding climate change have led to the development of numerous global agreements, culminating in the European Union’s adoption of the European Green Deal (EGD). This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of the scientific literature surrounding the EGD, emphasizing the policy's role in achieving climate neutrality by 2050 and its broader impact on economic competitiveness and sustainability. Using data extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS), the study analyzes 3,903 scientific articles published between 2019 and February 2025, utilizing VOSviewer software to map thematic clusters and keyword co-occurrence. The results indicate a sharp increase in academic interest in the EGD, with publication volume growing from 50 articles in 2019 to over 900 annually by 2024. Seven major thematic clusters were identified, centered around topics such as renewable energy, circular economy, climate change, biodiversity, sustainability, and governance. The most frequently occurring keywords included “EU Green Deal,” “sustainability,” and “circular economy.” The analysis highlights the multidimensional and interdisciplinary nature of EGD-related research and underscores the Green Deal’s transformative potential in aligning climate policy with innovation, economic growth, and social inclusion. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of how the EGD is framed in the scientific community and offers insights into the evolution of sustainability-focused research in the context of major policy initiatives.
