BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EMPLOYABILITY, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND ETHNICITY

Abstract: Employability is increasingly recognised as a vital factor supporting sustainable development, promoting social inclusion, community cohesion, and economic growth. However, ongoing ethnic disparities in access to employment raise concerns about fairness and the inclusiveness of development processes. The present study employs a quantitative bibliometric approach to examine how academic research has explored the intersection of employability, sustainable development, and ethnicity. A dataset of 172 publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection (2003–2025) was analysed using Biblioshiny, enabling the mapping of structural features, thematic patterns, and collaboration networks in this area. Results show a significant rise in scholarly output after 2022, with increasing contributions from sustainability-focused journals such as Sustainability, and a growth in international collaboration. The analysis indicates that although the employability–sustainable development nexus has become a central research theme, the ethnic dimension remains insufficiently integrated. This limited focus on ethnicity diminishes the ability of current research to address systemic inequalities in labour markets. Overall, the conclusion is that the full relationship between employability, sustainable development, and ethnicity remains underexplored, underscoring the importance of incorporating ethnic considerations into future research and the design of coherent public policies to promote equity and social justice.
