TRENDS AND RESEARCH DIRECTIONS ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND COMPETITIVENESS IN THE AGRI-FOOD SECTOR: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS

Abstract: Climate change is altering agri-food competitiveness and poses a major challenge for stakeholders in this sector, which is vital for the food security of the population. The main objective of the study is to map, based on bibliometric analysis, the intersection between "climate change and agri-food competitiveness," identifying the dominant themes and the connections between them. Specifically, the aim is to construct maps of the co-occurrence of keywords and describe the temporal evolution of the topics. Thus, this paper maps the main research directions in this field using the dataset extracted from Scopus and the VOSviewer platform. Each cluster was also analyzed individually in terms of its composition, more specifically the relevant keywords. Three main research directions were observed: (1) green transition and resource management (emissions, land use, biodiversity, agri-environment); (2) structural and technological modernization (digitalization, innovation); and (3) socio-economic adaptive capacity (adoption, risk, rural development). The study's contribution to the literature consists of bibliometric mapping and analysis of the intersection between climate change and the competitiveness of the agri-food sector. The results also identify established themes (climate impact on productivity) and research gaps (measuring changes in competitiveness under the influence of climate change). Overall, the paper provides an overview of research directions.
