Abstract: This paper is a theoretical approach to the new motivational perspective of employees in sustainable organizations. We are increasingly observing the fact that work motivation has changed over time, with the development of different approaches to management and organizations. The purpose of this paper is to critically and comparatively examine the main human capital challenges in Romania compared to EU trends, using recent analyses developed by the European Commission, OECD, Eurofound and Eurostat. Today, the professional life of hundreds of millions of employees around the world is viewed in a different perspective than five years ago, before the pandemic. Approaches to work, almost non-existent before the pandemic, such as 100% remote work or hybrid work – have become a habit today and have had a favorable impact on performance, but also risks to employee motivation.
