The Civilizational Approach and the Study of Civilizations in Library and Scientometric Analysis

Abstract:
The article presents the possibilities of library and scientometric analysis in determining the structure, theÂmatic coverage, leading scientific instituÂtions and educational organizations, auÂthors and editorial teams of the scientific field of the study of civilizations and the methodology of the civilizational approach. The contribution of Russian authors in the development of this approach and especially the staff of the Russian Academy of ScienÂces, in particular the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences of the RusÂsian Academy of Sciences, is clarified. A comprehensive study of a particular subÂject area is carried out on the basis of the eLibrary Scientific Electronic Library toolÂkit. In the article considerable attention is paid to a new type of search using artificial intelligence (“neuropoisk†), identifying its advantages and disadvantages, as well as defining the subject area of the “civilizationÂal approach†using the keyword search. The importance of publications on library sciÂence, bibliography and book studies in the development of this topic is analyzed, the prospects for the use of library and sciento- metric analysis are determined.
