The National in the Empire. The Human Capital and the Economy of Ruschuk on the Border of Two Eras (1864-1880)

Abstract: In the present work the development of Ruse on the border of two ages, marked by their typical characteristics, is considered. The aftermaths of the Crimean War and the Reforms in the Ottoman Empire are continuously examined. The development of the crafts, building construction and industry is traced. The researched period is divided into three chronological sections. A general conclusion for the development of Ruse in the examined period is offered.
