Abstract:
Industrial restructuring in developed countries takes place in a favorable business environment and a system of - small, medium and large - industrial companies characterized by a high innovation capacity, dynamism and mobility. At present, by their contribution to higher flexibility of activities and ability of fast adaptation to new market conditions, small and medium size enterprises play an important role in structural adjustment. In the same time, the existence of large and very large enterprises is a positive factor for the availability of financial means in Research & Development activities. The significant role of medium size enterprises facilitates efficient diffusion of new technologies. In this context, the paper presents a comparative analysis between Romania, the European Union countries and builds up a framework of priorities and requirements for the improvement of the industrial enterprises system in this country. This paper is a synthesis of the research work carried out within the framework of the research "Organizational and institutional priorities in accelerating industry structural adjustments".
