Abstract:
The strongest element of PETROM (the only oil producer in the country) is the integrated system of its activities from oil and gas extraction, up to selling the fuels, it has also a circumstances, it is anticipated that PETROM will remain only a domestic oil producer due to its poor financial resources that may give the opportunities for the participation in major oil fields, also implying great risks. Regarding the natural gas, Romania has a very favorable geographical positions or Middle East through pipelines to Western Europe. Another opportunity is offered by the popeline nerwork in the North-West of Romania, to export Russian gas to Ukraine.
