Abstract: The paper emphasized the main factors that may influence the electricity prices under the tranzition circumstances to a competitive environment of the power sector. Thus, the present study tries to answer the following questions: How will differ the competitive electricitry prices in comparison to the regulated ones ? Which will be the impact of the competitive electricity prices (marginal costs based) on the consumption curves, production costs and on the financial integrity of electricity suppliers ?
