Abstract: The paper presents an analysis of the main elements of research-development activity, as well as the analysis of the main research-development indicators. During the 1990-2001 period, many changes and transformations occurred within the research-development system, having a negative impact on this sector of activity. These negative results have a major impact on the competitiveness of the Romanian industrial products in international market.
