Abstract: The paper illustrates the path adopted by an elite unit of the machine building industry, that has managed to avoid, by privatization and restructuring, the loss of workplaces and the bankrupcy. The technological transfer, the existing know-how and the high level of existing specialists as well as the managerial ability of the new owners, managed to transform a firm on the edge of bankrupcy into a valuable competitor on the highly competitive market of machine-tools.
