Abstract:
The Romanian education system should be improved in a significant manner, in order to respond adequately to challenges of the new information and knowledge society, as well as to requirements of modernization of economic activity. The emphasize in the large, profound and long lasting improvement process must be put on the deepening both of specialization in each profession and trade, and of pragmatic character of the curricula. In this sense, the education system's reform process, which started in 1977, should be continued, in accordance with the world tendencies and the requirements of the "acquis communautaire". The main co-ordinates on which we consider that the reform process should be oriented are highlighted in the paper.
