Jordan Economy Performances under Progress

Abstract: Jordan registered a significant success achieved through the economic reforms of the past four years 2000-2004, especially related to the work of the public institutions - reforms enabling a quality shift in a limited period of time, mainly thanks to its human capabilities. The global competitiveness Report for 2003/2004, prepared by the International Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland - which covers more than 140 world states - ranked Jordan as the 34th country, ahead of many countries seemingly more advanced, like Italy, Mexico, the Check Republic, China, Russia, African countries and before other Arab countries. The article presents the sector evolutions, shortcomings of the economy, perspectives and tracks for improvement. Full of figures and indicator links, the current survey helps the reader to discover an emerging market.
