Abstract: This paper emphasizes the main issues that affect the world economies in their attempt to cover the demand of energy resources. These problems are generated both by the resources depletion and by the new evolutions in the geopolitical international context. The first part of the article is focused on coal perspectives; the second part will take into consideration the other energy resources.
