Abstract:
The rail transportation have a less older development history than those of the road, naval and maritime transportation modes. Despite this fact, in less than two hundred years, the train apear everywhere. At world level, the geographical rail network repartition is not the same: we can see a better concentration in the North and Central America (489.000 km) and in Europe, including the former states of Russian Union (396.000 km), followed by Asia, the South America, Africa and, finally, Australia.
