Abstract: The paper presents some aspects concerning the pollution produced by the tetraethil lead and the necessity of replacing it. In this sense there is proposed its substitution with ethers and the achievement of a technology for obtaining these additives. There are described the processes used for producing ethers and the studies regarding the technical and economic evaluation of such technology.
