Changes in the returns to education in Argentina

Abstract: In this paper we examine the returns to education in Argentina from 1995 to 2003. We use several econometric techniques in an attempt to account for sample selection bias arising from endogenous labour force participation and to control for the endogeneity of education. The empirical results indicate that the returns to education have fluctuated over time. We provide some evidence suggesting that the relative demand for more educated people is likely to be a key factor in explaining changes in the returns to education.
