Abstract: This paper explores how Romanian IT entrepreneurs foster entrepreneurial orientation (EO) to compete in a global environment. Romanian entrepreneurs face challenges while trying to compete in the global environment. International entrepreneurial orientation (IEO) of SaaS entrepreneurs helps them register company performance and innovation. There was conducted an inductive study comprising 14 interviews with IT entrepreneurs with innovative firms that registered growth in previous three years in the software development industry and software as a service (SaaS). The units of analysis were the IEO practices of the studied entrepreneurs. Prior studies were extended by bringing additional insights on the influence of entrepreneurial orientation.
