Manufacturing changed drastically, focusing on improving its productivity and efficiency. Sustainability is one of the agendas of Industry 4.0. The stances regarding the impact of the fourth industrial revolution on environmental sustainability differ, making it important to focus on the negative effects of the recent development of Industry 4.0, to respect the main principle of sustainability, which is using current resources while thinking of both present and future generations. The purpose of the paper is to detail the influence of industry 4.0 on environmental sustainability while taking into consideration the different positions.
