Abstract: The paper focuses on the status of the Charter in some EU member states on the basis of Protocol No. 30, about the specifics of the application of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU in Poland and in the United Kingdom. It especially focuses on the legal and political reasons for the adoption of the Protocol and it also examines the effects of this document in relation to the Charter, primarily looking for an answer to the question, as to whether they are opt-outs, or merely interpretation rules, which do not affect the Charter in the territory of Great Britain, Poland and the Czech Republic.
