Rehabilitation of a So-called Error of Marx

Abstract: The price systems of the classical conceptual framework do not apparently need a concept of value, distinct from the concept of price. Though, recently, the treatment of certain questions within this framework has called for such a concept. This paper shows that: I) all these questions raise a same problem, analogous to the referential problem in physics, 2) the classical economists and Marx were aware of this problem and solved it out with the aid of a concept of value, and 3) it is Bortkiewicz's rectification of a so-called error of Marx that may be traced back as responsible for having concealed this problem and, thereby, the meaning of the concept of value.
