Abstract:
While the financial system has experienced a historical crisis, questions about the role of banking sector are rising among the public and commentators. Although Minsky was one of the few authors who studied the link between banks, risk and crisis, nevertheless his approach seems incomplete for throwing light on the whole set of phenomena of the current crisis. So, we propose to go back to history of banks in a perspective to show how the link between the banker and risk is specific, and how the recent alteration of this profession is source of main disequilibria.
