Abstract: The beginning of education of mathematical statistics at the Central College of Agriculture in Warsaw is connected with Jerzy Neyman, who was a lecturer at the Faculty of Horticulture since 1923. The Mathematical Statistics Group was established in 1928, under his leadership. In the same year he organized a Biometric Laboratory at the Marceli Nencki Institute. This paper introduces the history of these two Groups.
