Political Science and Governance Case Peru, Beginnings and Current Events

Rafael Romero-Carazas ()

Edu - Tech Enterprise, 2025, vol. 3, 107

Abstract: This essay examines the evolution of Political Science and governance in Peru, from its emergence in the 1980s to the present. Through a chronological review of academic studies between 2008 and 2024, it explores how political, economic, and social transformations have shaped the development of the discipline and the stability of the State. Although Political Science has gained recognition and visibility, it still faces institutional and academic weaknesses. Governance in Peru has been characterized by a persistent tension between a historically strong Executive and a weak Congress, a dynamic that has recently shifted. The study highlights that social conflicts, lack of inclusion, and weak institutional frameworks remain key barriers to sustainable governance. It concludes by emphasizing the need to strengthen communication between the State and civil society, institutionalize Political Science, and promote evidence-based public policies as essential strategies for achieving democratic and efficient political management in Peru.
