Abstract:
The work of the economist and statistician Francis Ysidro Edgeworth has been underrated, especially during the first thirty years after his death in 1926. Nevertheless, in the last forty years, this work has deserved a growing recognition in both fields. Yet, Edgeworth’s influence upon relevant authors, such as J.M. Keynes, Pareto, Hicks or Pearson, has been usually biased or ignored. By unveiling the details of these influences I hope that the reader will get a better understanding of Edgeworth’s real academic stature.
