Installment Credit Before 1870
Robert A. Lynn
Business History Review, 1957, vol. 31, issue 4, 414-424
Abstract:

The employment of installment credit facilitated the growth of a mass market for such products and provides an example of the utilization of an old commercial technique for a new purpose.
