Globalisation and financial intermediaries: Advances in New Financial History A Special Issue of the European Review of Economic History Guest Editors' Introduction

Abstract: The essays in this Special Issue were initially written for the first Past, Present and Policy meeting, a New Economic History Panel, that was held in Vienna, 30 September–1 October 2005. This panel was designed by Marc Flandreau and is currently sponsored by the Chaire de Finances Internationales at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, and by the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London. The Vienna meeting, known as PPP1, was hosted and sponsored by the Austrian National Bank.
