Integration of technology in early childhood education: Benefits, challenges, and effective practices

Abstract: In the context of early childhood education, the integration of technology is increasingly relevant for improving pedagogical practices and learning outcomes. However, multiple barriers, both internal and external, hinder its effective implementation in teacher training. This study aimed to identify and analyze these barriers, as well as explore the most effective strategies to overcome them. An exhaustive literature review was conducted on studies published between 2018 and 2023, focusing on empirical research that examines the challenges in technology integration in teacher training. The results reveal that the beliefs and attitudes of preservice teachers are crucial for the adoption of educational technologies. In particular, constructivist beliefs facilitate technology integration, while traditional beliefs and the lack of resources and institutional support act as significant barriers. Additionally, key strategies were identified to overcome these barriers, including continuous professional development, collaboration among teachers, and a supportive institutional environment.
