Abstract:
This is an experience that aims to applying an educational intervention to promote mental health of the older adults of the Elida Bustillos Commune, located in Coro, Venezuela. The World Health Organization states that by 2019, eight percent of people worldwide had mental disorders, while in Venezuela, a study conducted in 2009 revealed that one in five patients presented with anxiety or depression, and since the 2020 pandemic, cases of mental disorders have worsened. The Participatory Action Research method is used, and the results are obtained: the educational intervention promotes mental health by improving knowledge, attitude, and participation, as well as developing a greater potential for mental health. In conclusion, learnings are generated that drive further progress in the promotion of mental health of the older adults.
