The increasing life expectancy of the population and the labour market: contradictions and perspectives

E. A. Maryganova () and S. A. Shapiro ()

Scientific notes of the Russian academy of entrepreneurship, vol. 16, issue 1

Abstract: The article shows that the increase in the retirement age in the developed countries, as a consequence of the increase in life expectancy and dependency ratio on working, has contradictory effects on the labour market. Effects of the transition developed countries to the new technological order are also unclear. But there is no doubt that one of the factors contributing to the strengthening of social status of the elderly is a lifelong education.
