The yuan in international payment transactions

Abstract: The article deals with the current state of the yuan and the role of the PRC currency in the international payment turnover. It is emphasized that the country s monetary authorities are pursuing an active policy of internationalization of its currency seeking to turn the yuan into the world s leading currency in the face of China s growing economic power. The role of the Chinese settlement infrastructure CIPS as well as well as the PVP system, serving settlements in rubles and yuan, is noted. Attention is paid to the state of the yuan in the period of aggravation of trade relations between China and the United States. It is emphasized that foreign trade contacts between Russia and China are expanding with the use of their national currencies in the calculations between them.
