SAP Primary Care, 2025

Abstract: Introduction: The American Dental Association uses the term “temporomandibular disorders” to describe conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint, masticatory muscles, associated structures, and those related to the function of the stomatognathic system. Advances in information technology are bringing about a shift in the traditional learning paradigm. Objective: To design a website on temporomandibular disorders for the education of dental students, Havana, 2023–2025.Methods: A cross-sectional study on technological innovation was conducted among dental students in Havana, 2023–2025. The study population consisted of 65 third-year dental students, and the sample included 30 students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: In the pre-assessment, 86.7% of the students demonstrated difficulties with the clinical examination, 73.3% with the treatment plan, and 66.7% with the etiology of temporomandibular disorders. The students’ level of knowledge was average, at 50%. The faculty members who served on the expert panel rated the designed website as adequate, with an 83.3% approval rating. Conclusions: The students who participated in the study demonstrated deficiencies in their knowledge of temporomandibular disorders, with an average level of knowledge. The website design was accepted by students and faculty as a resource for learning about temporomandibular disorders. The expert faculty members considered the digital product to be valid.
