Abstract:
This study investigates the causes of voluntary employee turnover within the Ministry of Agriculture in Zambia. Using a quantitative research design, structured questionnaires were administered to ministry staff and analyzed using SPSS. Key determinants examined included job satisfaction, compensation, career development opportunities, leadership, organizational culture, and political interference. The results indicate that limited career advancement, inadequate compensation, poor working conditions, and political interference significantly contribute to employee dissatisfaction and turnover intentions. The study recommends strengthening leadership practices, improving compensation structures, expanding career development opportunities, and reducing political interference to enhance employee retention and service delivery in the public sector.
