Abstract: The history of the relationship between Paris and Brazzaville is punctuated by the issue of and the recognition or otherwise of others, and the possible drifts in the way one relates to other otherness as the notion of "self" is always construed in terms of "me being for or against you". Without Brazzaville's call, France would certainly not be what it is today: proud and strong of its place in the world. This remains the figure of the rallying of those whose humanity is denied to the cause of safeguarding the fate of humanity. By its unwavering desire to maintain "the easements of the colonial pact," through military cooperation, official development assistance, the franc of the French Community of Africa, the accommodations between the emancipation logic of the political and economic elites of the Congo and the geostrategic interests of France, it proves the asymmetry of relations between Brazzaville and Paris. The other is then a simple means and not an end. In the context of the progressive rooting of a multipolar world, the survival of this historical relationship requires a necessary and balanced revisitation of its foundations.
