Abstract: This study was to contribute on the knowledge of the floristic composition of commercial tree species of the Yangambi Biosphere Reserve and quantify their timber potential. For achieving this, a tree inventory was conducted on a sample of 2.5 hectares divided into 5 plots of 200 x 25 m each one placed on a track of 1000 meters. The inventory model used in this study is that proposed by the Ministry of Environment of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Thus, 166 trees belonging to 24 commercial species grouped into 11 families were identified. In terms of density, the individuals surveyed are distributed at a rate of 100.8 tree ha-1 and cover about 18 m2 ha-1 basal area of which 50% is occupied by four classes of diameter between 40 and 80 cm. The distribution of densities of individuals per diameter class approximates a decreasing exponential structure with small diameter rods are the most dominant, which informs that commercial species have a good level of regeneration. In addition, the timber volume estimated for DHP stems greater than 60 cm, all species, reached 122 m3 ha-1. This potential volume of wood is owned 64% by the essences of the value of class I in which species of the Meliaceaae family represent 67% of the standing volume.
