Abstract: After the abortive Chinese experience led by Zheng He (1405-1433), Europeans are taking the head to open globalization. Since Magellan's circumnavigation, we can identify three distinct phases with specific features (leadership, paradigm, exchanges). Faith, Progress and Happiness constituted the paradigms that successively ignited Iberian, Franco-British, then Americans. If the predation of men in Africa, precious metals in America and spices in Asia, anchors first globalization (1522-1830), a kind of thalassocracy with still ancient uses of empires. Second (1830-1947) still aims at the control of space, but with equipment and educational and sanitary requirements in perspective of Progress. Third (1947-2021) no longer needs territories, it conquers mentalities by communicating the desire of the American way of life which ensures its economic grip.
