Zur Relevanz betriebswirtschaftlicher Forschung in der Corona-Pandemie: die Rolle der BWL als Wissenschaft

Abstract: Academic research in general, but also especially applied research, have extensively grown their relevance in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. This poses an enlightening chance to point out the strengths of management research in this regard. Against this background, the article first of all discusses the contribution of management research as discipline of science. Second, this perspective is elaborated further on specific research questions arising in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, it concludes with a plea pushing for more academic management expertise in solving societal questions and challenges. / Die Wissenschaft im Allgemeinen, aber auch die Forschung im speziellen, haben in der Corona-Pandemie einen neuen und vor allem sehr hohen Stellenwert bekommen. Dies ist als Chance zu sehen, auch hier die Stärken der betriebswirtschaftlichen Forschung zur Schau zu stellen. Vor diesem Hintergrund diskutiert dieser Beitrag zunächst die BWL als Wissenschaft, um dann auf betriebswirtschaftliche Forschungsfragen im Kontext der Corona-Pandemie näher einzugehen. Den Abschluss bildet ein Plädoyer für mehr betriebswirtschaftliche Expertise bei gesellschaftlichen Fragen.
