International Journal of Literature and Arts Studies, 2025, vol. 1, issue 1, 1-6

Abstract: Historical commemorative sculptures serve as significant carriers of cultural memory and public dissemination, constituting an essential component of urban sculptures that are increasingly present in public spaces. In recent years, these sculptures have played a distinctive role in central urban areas and cultural squares. This study focuses on the commemorative sculptures in Pingdingshan, analyzing their aesthetic and cultural significance in relation to shifts in social ideology across different historical periods. By exploring their impact on the modern urban environment, this paper discusses the evolving role of such sculptures, their artistic contributions, and their integration into contemporary urban landscapes. Furthermore, it examines broader trends and future directions for the development of historical commemorative sculptures within urban contexts.
